Consultation has concluded

Council has prepared a draft Inclusion Action Plan for people with a disability and is now asking the community for feedback before considering whether to adopt the plan.

The City’s vision is for an inclusive and accessible City, where people with disability have equal opportunities to participate in social and cultural life, and in meaningful employment and civic life.

The plan has been developed through listening to the needs and ideas of people with a disability, family members of people with a disability, and agencies who provide services to people with a disability and/or their families.

What's in the plan?

The new disability action plan will address four areas:

1. Developing positive community attitudes and behaviours towards people with disability.

2. Creating more liveable communities for people with disability.

3. A higher rate of meaningful employment participation by people with disability through inclusive employment practices.

4. Equitable access to mainstream services for people with disability through better systems and processes.

Read the Draft Inclusion Action Plan for People with a Disability 2017 - 2021 in the document library.

Hardcopies of the document are available at all Council Customer Service Centres, Dougherty Community Centre and Libraries.
