The Haven Amphitheatre, Castlecrag – Proposed Stage Improvements

Consultation has concluded

The Haven Amphitheatre, located in the foreshore reserve known as Castlehaven Reserve, is a unique outdoor performance space containing tiered sandstone seating and a stage supported by a timber structure. The Amphitheatre sits in a scenic gully and was established by Walter Burley Griffin and wife Marion Mahony Griffin in the early 1930's.

The Haven Amphitheatre Management Committee, local residents who maintain and operate the Amphitheatre  concluded that substantial repair was required for the largely timber stage structure. In response concept plans proposing a new stage were developed under the direction of the Committee in 2012.

In 2013 Willoughby City Council engaged Structural and Hydraulic consultants to undertake studies of the supporting stage structure and the impacts that the current and future stormwater flows along the creek bed have on the stage structure.

We invite you to review the plans and the reports and tell us what you think about the proposed new stage for the Haven Amphitheatre by Monday 7 April 2014. Please tell us what you think of the plans by making comment in the:
