Future use of Northbridge Bowling Club

Consultation has concluded

Northbridge Bowling Club has been well used for a range of community and sporting activities for over 60 years. In July 2015 the Northbridge Bowling Club closed voluntarily due to low member numbers, at which time the facilities were handed over to Willoughby City Council’s care and control.

Council is now in the process of investigating options for the future of the former Northbridge Bowling Club building, the bowling green and the Warners Park Centre.

As part of this process we’re keen to involve the local community in exploring community uses that may be appropriate for these buildings and open space.

    We are pleased to let you know that Willoughby Council is moving forward with long term plans to determine future uses for both the buildings and related facilities, to provide benefits to the local community.

    A report summarising the consultation results and future uses of the site was endorsed by Council on Tuesday 29th, March 2016. In summary, Council will;

    • Firstly, there will be call for registrations of interest for a commercial café operator for the bottom floor of the former Northbridge Men's Bowling Club Bowling Club building and one Bowling Green. The results of this will be reported to Council.

    • In the short term, the top floor of the bowling club building will continue to function as a multipurpose community space for hire. This will allow the site to be utilised by the community while plans for long term refurbishments are made and implemented.

    • After the commercial tenants are considered, expressions of interest will be publicly sought from community groups and other interested parties for further uses of the site.
