Consultation has concluded

Council is seeking your feedback on a draft Local Area Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Improvement Plan for Ashley Street and Barcoo Street, Roseville .

Council has received concerns from residents regarding traffic and heavy vehicle movement and speeds and pedestrian safety and access in the local road network bounded by Barambah Road and Barcoo Street in the north and Ashely Street in the south and Penshurst Street in the west.

Traffic surveys have been undertaken in Ashely Street and Barcoo Street and the results indicated that the majority of vehicles travel up to 45 km/hr in Ashley Street and up to 42 km/h in Barcoo Street. These speed levels are commensurate with the current speed limit of 50km/h. The average speeds at both locations were below 40km/h.

To improve pedestrian access and encourage slower travel speeds, Council has developed a Local Area Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Improvement Plan.

The Plan comprises the following proposals:

  • Provision of kerb extensions in Ashley Street at its intersection with Barambah Road and Warrah Street intersection.
  • Install a ONE-WAY eastbound traffic control in Barcoo Street between Penshurst Street and Broadbent Reserve/Sparkes Lane.
  • Install a roundabout at the intersection of Barcoo Street and Sparkes Lane.
  • Investigate with Transport for New South Wales the introduction 40 kilometres per hour area wide speed restriction including Ashely Street, Barcoo Street, Sparkes Lane and Barambah Road

The Plan does not impact on street parking within the local area.

The recommended draft Local Area Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Improvement Plan can be accessed in the Document Library.
