Consultation has concluded


Between 19 October and 16 November 2023, comment was sought on the proposal to close an unused and unformed pathway between 3 Abbott Road and 2-4 Jersey Road, Artarmon. Closure of the pathway will enable development of the Council owned site at 3 Abbott Road for affordable housing. 

 

At its 11 December 2023 meeting, Council endorsed the lodgement of a Public Road Closure application with the NSW Department of Planning and Environment. The Council Report and the Engagement Outcomes Report are available to view in the Document Library on this page.


Subject Land 

The pathway is an 'unformed strip of land, 1.12m wide’, situated between the northern boundary of Lot 375 DP752067 (3 Abbott Road Artarmon) and the southern boundary of SP9774 (2-4 Jersey Road Artarmon) as shown in Figure 1. The land is currently designated as part of the public road network.

The land is unsuitable for use as a public pathway and has never been used for this purpose. The land is fenced and appears as part of the former Council operated childcare centre at 3 Abbott Road. As such, the land has never been accessible to the public. 

 


The closure of the pathway has no impact on the public amenity. The unused pathway will be vested in the Council upon closure and incorporated into the affordable housing development at 3 Abbott Road (DA2023/64).
