To assist commuters, Council can consider installing 10-hour parking restrictions at locations where there is less demand for short-term parking.

These long-term parking restrictions prevent 24/7 parking behaviours.

Why is there a No Stopping sign at the end of the street?

The NSW Road Rule 170 states that a driver must not stop on a road within 10 metres of the nearest point of an intersecting road (at an intersection without traffic signals). In an attempt to make it very clear as to the extent of the statutory restrictions, Council often installs No Stopping signage. With this signage in place it is “crystal clear” to all road users as to where you cannot park.

You can’t stop here, even briefly. The same applies if there’s a continuous yellow line on the edge of the road.

Can businesses use public kerbside parking spaces to store their business related vehicles?

It should be noted that businesses are required to comply with a set of conditions that do not permit the business to utilise the public roadway for their business needs. Further action may be taken against those who refuse to comply with their conditions of consent.

Conditions of the development generally require businesses to store all business related vehicles onsite as well as accommodate deliveries onsite.
