Consultation has concluded

Update

Thank you for having your say. Feedback received was considered and as a result no action was taken. This project is now complete.

Background

Council is seeking feedback about parking demand and issues in the Artarmon Industrial area before consultation closes 5pm on Monday 9 March 2020.

You can provide feedback in two ways:

  1. Complete a below as either a employer, an employee, or a visitor/customer/courier to the area; and
  2. Pin the map below, (in the applicable location) and describe the parking issue. You can also upload an image here.

Background:

Willoughby City Council is investigating ways to improve traffic and parking in Artarmon Industrial Area. Before any proposal can be progressed, Council needs to have an understanding of current issues and needs of employers and employees in the area.

Street parking occupancy surveys were undertaken last year and the results indicated high parking occupancy levels in on-street parking zones on week days.

Businesses have written to Council advising that certain premises often store vehicles that are related to their business on the public roadway, limiting parking opportunities for visitors/customers to the area. It should be noted that premises from which the businesses operate, do so under a Development Consent and are therefore required to comply with a set of conditions that do not permit the business to utilise the public roadway for their business needs. Further action may be taken against those who refuse to comply with their conditions of consent.

It is understood that there is a demand for employee parking as Artarmon and St Leonards rail stations are at a considerable walking distance from the industrial area.

In order to understand commuting needs of employees and customer parking and delivery needs of businesses, Council invites you to undertake the survey below. Survey closes at 5pm on Monday, 9 March 2020.

Businesses are urged to encourage their employees, courier/delivery services and customers/visitors to participate in this survey to allow us to understand parking needs of a wide spectrum of road users.

Next Stage:

Based on your feedback, a draft parking proposal will be prepared and all businesses/residents in the area will be consulted to identify any further modifications required to the proposal.
