Do you have any ideas and suggestions for Carlson Park, and do you want to join a co-design workshop?

Willoughby City Council wants to hear your ideas and suggestions for Carlson Park.

Carlson Park, named after Middle Harbour Ward resident Erik Carlson (1917-2001), is a small green space situated in North Willoughby.

The park signifies Carlson’s contribution to Willoughby LGA being a living environment, and the land's function to mitigate storm flooding (1989) and becoming a local open space.

Carlson Park is located off High Street and Rosewall Street, North Willoughby. Existing facilities include a trike track, sand pit, park benches, picnic tables, shade structure and a storm channel.

Community consultation on Carlson Park will uphold placemaking principles in alignment with Council’s Public Spaces and Recreation Strategy 2024.


How To Get Involved

Online Survey: Complete the short online survey below.

Drop-in sessions at Carlson Park: Wednesday14 May 2025 9.30-11.30am and 3.30-5pm

Co-design Workshop: In addition to the survey, there is an optional expression of interest (EOI) to participate in a community co-design workshop (1.5 hours in duration) to be held on Wednesday 4 June 2025.

Submissions close midnight Monday 19 May 2025.


What is a co-design workshop?

A co-design workshop is a collaborative consultation method where selected community members can provide ideas, suggestions and feedback on a particular topic, project or area. This workshop will be facilitated by Council staff and smaller groups of community participants can workshop their ideas together. Feedback will be used by Council to inform future decisions and directions.

How are the co-design workshop participants determined?

Council staff will review EOI responses received and select a smaller group of co-design workshop participants. This group will be a balanced a cross-section of community and park users to ensure equitable representation and participation.

When will I be notified if I have been selected for the co-design workshop?

Council will notify selected co-design workshop participants no later than 5 pm on Friday 23 May.

What if I'm unavailable to attend?

Council will be holding drop-in sessions at Carlson Park on Wednesday 14 May from 9.30-11.30 am and 3.30-5pm to hear your feedback, ideas and any questions you may have.

Where/when will the co-design workshop be held?

The co-design workshop will be held at a community venue from 6 -7.30 pm on Wednesday 4 June 2025 in Willoughby East 2068.

Selected co-design workshop participants will be notified by email and will include the venue details.
