You are invited to comment on Willoughby City Council’s Draft Code of Meeting Practice no later than Thursday 19th May 2022.

The Draft Code of Meeting Practice (the Code) provides details of how and when Council meetings are conducted. It applies to meetings of Council and Committees of the Council which all members are Councillors .

The Code cover all items relating to Council meeting procedure as well as the behaviours expected of Councillors during Council meetings.

The Draft code now provides a number of new provisions to reflect amendments to regulation since the previous iteration. The amendments focus on:

The Draft code now provides a number of new provisions to reflect amendments to regulation since the previous iteration. The amendments focus on:

  • Allowing Councillors to attend meetings by audio-visual link in the event of certain natural disasters or public health emergencies. The provisions governing attendance at meetings by audio-visual link and to hold meetings by audio-visual link in the event of natural disasters or public health emergencies are non-madatory.
  • Webcasting of meetings and disorder at meetings.
  • Business papers to remind Councillors of their Oath or Affirmation of Office and their conflict of interest disclosure obligations.
  • Other minor changes.

Council adopted the Draft Code of Meeting Practice at its meeting held on the 28th March 2022 and a copy of the report and Council resolution is provided as guidance.
