Key Points to Know

  • The rail line between Epping and Chatswood will be closing for upgrades from September 30 2018 for seven months, ahead of Sydney Metro opening in 2019.
  • High frequency turn up and go buses will operate seven bus routes
  • Main route is the SL1 running at least every 10 minutes 7 days a week to all stations between Epping to Chatswood
  • More than 110 services per hour in the busiest parts of the day
  • On-demand services operate on weekdays from 6-10am and 3-7pm
  • Five link routes stop at Macquarie University
  • Average commute is estimated to take an additional 10 minutes
  • Customers will need an Opal Card. A standard fare will be charged from $2.60.
  • Plan your trip and account for things such as stopping patterns using real time apps and the trip planner

Changes to parking to accommodate Station Link Bus Services

Council is working in conjunction with Transport NSW for temporary changes to parking that allow for additional Station Link bus services to ensure minimum disruption to traffic.

Council will be closely monitoring the parking changes with Transport for NSW during the rail closure period to minimise any further traffic disruption.

Chatswood

  • Victoria Avenue – eight car spaces removed, bus stops and bus layover area introduced, taxi rank relocated to Brown Street
  • Brown Street - 14 car parking spaces removed to allow for relocated taxi rank and new loading zone
  • Railway Street - 14 car spaces removed for extension of existing bus zone, introduction of second bus zone and no stopping zone.
  • Help Street – small extension of the existing no stopping parking restrictions.
  • Transport NSW will undertake night works from 2 September for 2 weeks in the above streets in preparation for the Station Link bus services.

St Leonards and Artarmon

  • Herbert Street - 11 car spaces removed, extension of existing bus zone
  • Pacific Highway - temporary bus set down zone created
  • Clarendon Street – nine car spaces removed, installation of bus standby zone
  • Pacific Highway between Westbourne Street and The Avenue, Gore Hill – six car spaces removed, bus standby zone installed.
