Funded by NSW Education, this $1.4 million investment will improve safety for students and the wider community following the recent redevelopment of Chatswood High School and Chatswood Public School. This design specifically addresses a significant safety issue by providing a safe way for vehicles to legally complete a U-turn via the roundabouts, after student drop-off and pick-up on Centennial Ave.

Proposed new features

  • Two new roundabouts to ease traffic flow and facilitate legal U-turns
  • New pedestrian refuges
  • Upgraded lighting at pedestrian crossing opposite high school
  • Upgraded pram ramps

The plan requires:

  • 14 parking spaces to be removed to accommodate the roundabout approaches in line with Australian Standards. This design specifically addresses a significant safety issue by providing a safe way for vehicles to legally complete a U-turn via the roundabouts, after student drop-off and pick-up on Centennial Ave.

  • Conversion of the separated cycleway to an on-road cycleway, including a car door buffer zone for cyclist safety opposite Chatswood High School.
