You’re invited to comment on an amendment to Clause 13.8 of Council's draft Code of Meeting Practice before 28 October 2020.

The Draft Code of Meeting Practice (the Code) provides details of how and when Council meetings are conducted. It applies to all meetings of Council and committees of Council of which all the members are Councillors.

The Code covers items such as public forums, modes of address and rules of debate. In general, it deals with the procedures that must be followed at Council meetings and the behaviour expected during Council meetings.

Council adopted the Code of Meeting Practice

You’re invited to comment on an amendment to Clause 13.8 of Council's draft Code of Meeting Practice before 28 October 2020.

The Draft Code of Meeting Practice (the Code) provides details of how and when Council meetings are conducted. It applies to all meetings of Council and committees of Council of which all the members are Councillors.

Council adopted the Code of Meeting Practice at its meeting on 11 June 2019, the proposed change to the Code is an amendment to the wording of clause 13.8, no further changes are proposed:

Current wording of clause 13.8:

Notices of Motion that are identified in 13.2 should be adopted using the wording of the Notice of Motion. If the item is not identified by Councillors as an item they wish to speak on, the wording of the officer’s recommendation carries.

Proposed wording of clause 13.8:

When a Notice of Motion is carried as part of an en bloc resolution, the original wording of the motion as submitted in accordance with clause 3.9 is carried, unless the motion results in matters encompassed by clause 3.11 or 3.12, in which case, the item must be called for individual consideration


Making a Submission

A report will be presented to the November Council meeting, for your submission to be included in this report it will need to be received by the 28 October 2020.
