Between 26 August and 10 September 2022, Willoughby City Council sought feedback on a proposal to improve bicycle safety, access and amenity in Nelson Street between Frank Channon Walk and the Pacific Highway, and on the Pacific Highway between Mowbray Road and Nelson Street, Chatswood.

Through the creation of a dedicated 185m shared path on the Pacific Highway and 135m long on-road treatment in Nelson St, people will be more easily walk or cycle between the southern end of the Chatswood CBD and St Leonards.

This new proposed link will provide:

  • A shared path along the east side of Pacific Highway between Mowbray Rd and Nelson Rd
  • An on-road bicycle treatment on Nelson St between Pacific Highway and Frank Channon Walk
  • Link marking and associated signposting on Nelson St and along Nelson St
  • Bicycle connections and safety improvements on Nelson St at the Pacific Highway intersection.
  • Shared path pavement marking signs along Pacific Highway between Nelson St and Mowbray Rd.

We released, for community feedback concept design plans, including a map of the proposed link.

The final concept design plans have now been approved by the Willoughby Traffic Committee.
