Willoughby City Council is seeking comment, before Monday 16 December 2019, about proposed streetscape improvements on Wilkes Avenue between Valetta Lane and Elizabeth Street in mid-2020.

This round of streetscape consultation incorporates feedback received earlier this year, that asked stakeholders what they liked about the Wilkes Ave Precinct area and what needed to be improved or added.

The streetscape concept plan also considers feedback received through extensive consultation with the local community, since early 2017 about the broader Artarmon area and potential development control changes during the development of Council's Local Centre Strategy for Artarmon.

The proposed improvements can be seen in the attached Concept Plans and Signage Plan. Works will involve an upgrade of the public domain area in and around Wilkes Avenue, including; installation of new street furniture and decorative lighting and construction of a raised pedestrian crossing on Elizabeth Street. Also included is a set of plans outlining the background to the project, including the Local Centre Strategy, previous community consultation on Wilkes Ave and the site analysis and design principles for the project.

The purpose of this community consultation is to inform interested residents of the proposed works and seek comments prior to finalising plans and programming for the project.

Council will review the feedback and notify impacted stakeholders at the site about anticipated time frames for the construction program.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of the works, please contact Gynt Drinan - Project Manager Team Leader (02) 9777 1000, email@Willoughby.nsw.gov.au.

Please take a few minutes to tell us your thoughts about the proposed streetscape improvements on Wilkes Avenue between Valetta Lane and Elizabeth Street.
