Why is Council establishing The Community Voice Panel?

    We’re doing this because we believe decisions should reflect the full mix of voices in our community, not just the loudest or the most regular. By joining the Community Voice Panel you’re helping us build a more connected, inclusive and transparent Council, one conversation at a time. 

    Who can join The Community Voice Panel?

    Anyone above the age of 16 that lives or works in Willoughby Local Government Area. We’re looking for a diverse mix of our community to join. 

    What commitment would I need to make to be on the Community Voice Panel?

    By nominating yourself for the Community Voice Panel, you would be expected to attend four meetings a year either in the evenings or weekends and bring your lived experience, insights and ideas to the table

    What’s the time commitment for the panel?

    The panel will meet four times per year. Each session will be around 2 hours and held either in the evening or on weekends to suit a range of schedules. You’ll be notified well in advance of meeting dates.

    What would I expect to do on The Community Voice Panel?

    The intention for the Community Voice Panel is to be a sounding board for Council projects. Your role is to bring your lived experience, insights, and ideas to the table and help ensure Council decisions reflect the community's needs. 

    Panel sessions would involve project briefings around a current Council project followed by discussions and structured activities to provide your input on the project.

    Are The Community Voice Panel meetings incentivised?

    Yes. 

    We understand that time is a valuable resource for everyone, and that all our community members have life commitments. As we expect that you attend panel meetings, you will be paid for your time. 

    We also highly value the potential impact this Community Voice Panel can have for Council and the Willoughby LGA, we want everyone who wants to contribute to be able to do so without being limited by their financial situation. 

    What if I’m interested but can’t attend every panel meeting?

    We understand life can get busy. While we encourage full participation, we also aim to be flexible and supportive. You’ll still be able to contribute through online discussions or short surveys if you miss a meeting.
