Willoughby City Council is undertaking a proposed streetscape improvement project for Edward St and Penshurst St South, Willoughby.
Subject to community input and feedback, the project is likely to include street greening, traffic calming and pedestrian infrastructure improvements to make the corridor a cooler, greener, safer and more inviting place for pedestrians and cyclists.
The corridor has also been identified by students participating in a Council-led active travel project at Willoughby Public School as one of four key ‘active paths’ to be waymarked with stencils to encourage more students and their families to walk, cycle or scooter to school.
From May to June 2023, community members were asked to nominate the issues we should consider in the development of a draft Edward Street and Penshurst Street South Corridor Improvement Concept Plan, to be exhibited in mid to late 2023.
Community members were invited to attend two community workshops on this project to be held in the main hall of Willoughby Public School, Oakville Rd, Willoughby.
The first workshop (at 6:45pm on Wednesday, 10 May) included a Council briefing on the project, and allow for community questions and answers and initial feedback.
The second workshop (at 6:45pm on Wednesday, 7 June) involved a co-design process with community members.
Community members also provided comments via an interactive map or online survey.
