1. HOW WILL I BE INFORMED AS A MEMBER OF THE COMMUNITY IF COUNCIL IS SPRAYING SPORTSGOUNDS OR PARKS FOR WEEDS AND INSECTS

    Notice of pesticide use will be provided by any one or a combination of the following:

    • Signs including A frames;
    • Information on Council’s website;
    • Letters;
    • Letterbox drops;
    • Door knocking.

    2. WHAT ARE THE WHITE DROPLETS ON THE SPORTSGROUND

    The white foam droplets are the soap markers for the operator so the product is evenly distributed and safe for the environment with minimal overlap.

    3. HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN AN AREA IS SAFE TO ENTER AFTER SPRAYING

    An area is safe to re-enter after spraying if:

    • Notification signs on-site have a date for public re-entry to the space, and this date has passed; or
    • The notification signs have been removed

    4. WHAT PUBLIC AREAS ARE COVERED IN THE PLAN

    All outdoor public areas and amenities under the control of Council.

    5. WHY WOULD COUNCIL NOT NOTIFY THE COMMUNITY OF PESTICIDE USAGE

    Any pesticide used in small quantities (less than 10 litres) and or readily available from retail outlets.

    6. WHAT PESTICIDES DOES THE COUNCIL USE?

    This Plan does not guide decisions by the Council about what pesticides should be used, which is covered by the Pesticides Act 1999.

    Council has a strong commitment to reducing reliance in the use of pesticides whilst still maintaining and improving the quality of our open space.

    The Council will use the most effective and efficient pesticide which is the least toxic to people and the environment and, where appropriate will use other control measures instead of pesticides.
