Construction progress on site over last month

  • Epoxy coating to Balance Tanks & Pool Gutters
  • Pool tiling and grouting
  • Feature Wall tiling 90% complete
  • Family change room – completion of wall linings
  • Upper Car Park – Complete rainwater tank installation and backfill
  • FC sheeting to exterior facades & high level louvres
  • Allied Health room – Installation of glazing framing
  • Filter connections & Electrical trays to 25m Plant room
  • Existing Sports Hall – Final painting of western/southern elevations


Focus of construction work in coming month

  • Waterproofing & tiling of the Family Change Room
  • Balance tank waterproof coating
  • Continuation of Pool tiling and grouting
  • Upper Car Park – Rainwater tank connections
  • Continuation of FC sheeting to exterior facades & high level louvres
  • Allied Health room – Lining of walls and glazing
  • Existing Sports Hall – installation of downpipe shrouds


Completed works

  • Since the pool closed on 19 November 2022, the following works have been completed:
  • Site establishment
  • Demolition of the old pool hall
  • Implementation of Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) approved Asbestos Management Plan protocols with excavation and removal of some asbestos contaminated soil.
  • Construction of new piles to support the pool hall
  • Structural retaining wall on the site’s north-eastern boundary completed
  • Capping of contaminated soil on 100% of the site
  • New stormwater line in Small Street
  • Below ground backwash tanks for the 25m and program pools
  • Pool Concrete shells are complete for the 25m Pool, Program Pool, Learn to Swim Pool and Spa
  • Concrete ring beams to support steel columns
  • Concrete slabs for upper level plant rooms
  • Structural steel columns & roof beams to northern & southern sector of the site
  • Steel framed wall on Eastern side
  • Installation of new Electrical Substation
  • Timber Purlins
  • Installation of 2 x Mechanical A/C Units
  • Official water testing of all pool shells
  • Kingspan sheeting on northern roof of the pool hall
  • Roofing & cladding on the existing sports hall & central spine
  • Cladding to existing sports hall & central spine
  • Installation of Solar Panels
  • Tower Crane removed
  • Internal scaffolding removed from the Pool Hall
  • Roof Structure over community room
  • Installation of the Main Switchboard


Other relevant project updates over the last month

Continuation of the Asbestos Management Plan - daily air monitoring continuing

The main central spine of the centre is now closed for refurbishment works, and the main entry has been relocated to the south/west corner of the sports hall. The Gym will be closed from 30th June 2025, for a number of months while internal works are in progress.
